WK9! Creative Writing!

WK9! Creative Writing...
This week we have been doing lots of really cool stuff. Although I was only here on Monday, Thursday, and Friday, I still enjoyed what I could. The main highlight for me was getting to continue with creative writing. Although I didn't finish it was still fun to keep writing. I will link the doc to this post. My story is about this tiny guy called Ari (My name) and his best friend Fred. We had to choose a picture to put on the doc before writing. We had to write a story about the picture. Here's mine:
And here's da story:

Lockdown Creations Week 8!

Lockdown Creations Week 8
This week we have been working on our Lockdown Creations Week 8. We have been doing lots of really cool work. I wasn't at school on Monday (Public Holiday) or Tuesday (I go to a Gifted Academy called Mindplus) so that's why Monday and Tuesday are both missing. But my favorite day of the week was Thursday, because we got PIZZA AND ICE BLOCKS FOR FREE!! Hope you enjoy!

Lockdown Diary!

Lockdown Diary 2020!
Before I start on the Diary, I will explain lockdown: Whilst lockdown only started on the 26th of March, School only ended on the 24th. The reason lockdown happend was because of 'Covid-19'. Covid-19 is a virus that gets inside you and makes you very, very sick. We went into lockdown to prevent spreading of Covid. The whole world went into lockdown and even though NZ went out of lockdown on the 18th of May, Some of the world is still in lockdown.
Throughout Lockdown made a lockdown diary. The diary is a log of every task we did in  lockdown. The slides were made by the teachers and we had to fill them out. They were so fun. I enjoyed the pixel art (If it's on the diary) and the blank to do whatever. I enjoyed It because I got to write about my new mountain bike. Here's more about the bike: It was a slightly hot and sunny day. I was at my dad's office. It was the 9th of may and I was going to pick up my new bike from the Onehunga shipping depot. The bike had just arrived from Christchurch and I was enjoying pizza. I said; "Dad, can you call Toll and ask them about my bike?". "Yeah sure, I'll call them now" he said. OK, I thought.
5 minutes later...
"Ari, it just arrived back home." Dad said. So we rushed back home and unpacked and built my new bike. There is a photo of the bike on the slideshow (Lockdown Diary) Below:

Portraits!

2020 Portraits!

Currently (W6 T1) we are doing our portraits! What we had to do was research an era (1800 - 2000) and then do a practice portrait in our books. Then we did ANOTHER portrait (In our books again) The era I picked was The 70's (1970's) And, then we were able to do our REAL thing. What we did was paint a background and dye the other side. We then stuck a half-picture of us on the side we painted and drew our different era side of the head. Enjoy the photos!

Miracle On The Hudson - SLJ Day 2

Miracle On The Hudson, SLJ Day 2
In 2009, what is now known as a 'Miracle' occurred on the Hudson River, New York. Mr Chesley Sullenberger landed his plane on the water after both engines failed. Mr Chesley became very famous. This took a lot of courage and skill. For this SLJ activity, I have to recount a time when me or a family member did something brave.

Surfing Fail.
It was the 13th of July, the day after my B-Day. I was taking my first ever surf lesson in Hawaii. I was doing a one-on-one lesson with surfing pro Reed (I don't know his last name). He was showing me how to turn the surf board once I had caught the wave. After waiting, we finally found a suitable wave. "Paddle! Paddle! Paddle!" Reed yelled. I did exactly that. I knew the drill. With surfing, you paddle until the wave finally catches up. Then you pull yourself up an crouch low, and quickly, but not to quickly. You don't want to fall. you keep your legs bent, and to turn, you twist you hips and slightly lean forward.  I tried this and then ended up on the bottom of the ocean, and when I came up for air, there were people laughing everywhere. So yeah, Fail. But Also very brave. (In my eyes at least!).
